Who we are

Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, popularly known in its abbreviated form BGVS at national level, emerged in 1989 primarily with a broad objective to bring changes in social order. But later it incorporated with its objective, working for the economic development of the marginal communities. Now, the gap between the poor and rich is becoming wider, and in these two sections we find a few people shining while a large number of others are suffering. Besides, we find growing disparities within the society owing to prevalence of age old dogmatic and exploitative systems. BGVS has been putting its relentless effort to bridge this gap or disparities in the society, trying to abolish its dogmatic systems by developing a scientific bent of mind and spirit among the communities. Hence, BGVS is more like a crusade of science, different from any other projects of other NGOs.

Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samiti, Odisha Chapter got established in 1992, with its primary aim to intervene in the field of illiteracy. Later, looking into the need & urgency of the communities in different parts of the state, it got expanded with different developmental interventions.
