The Odisha chapter of BGVS, during its twenty five years of consistent and focused action, has also done a commendable job on adult literacy and total literacy, taking science to the people and facilitating the pace of development, especially in the sectors of health, education, gender and sustainable rural livelihood. Apart from its massive work on adult literacy and trainings, BGVS has successfully undertaken skill enhancement programmes in the  field of agriculture, horticulture, water management, health and rural artisans with the support of different ministries & departments of Government of India & Government of Odisha, UN agencies, National & International organizations and corporate organizations.

BGVS has its outreach in 22 States, 306 Districts, 2,009 blocks and 21,064 panchayats across the country with membership of more than 2, 70,535 people. In most of the states, the organization has a mass base character and its state units are independently registered with proportional women representations.
